The chilean health service sucks.

To begin with, we have to take into account that in Chile there is a public health system and a private one. The public health system is of poor quality, there are long queues to get a medical appointment and these are at least for 1 more month. The worst is emergency care, where one has to wait too many hours to be treated. This has been something very unfortunate, since if you go to the emergency room it's because you're in a serious situation that demands immediate attention (your life is at stake).

Otherwise, the private health system is of much better quality. It's unnecessary to queue for a medical appointment, the emergency services are efficient (you don't have to wait long hours), in addition to the fact that the treatment received is much more pleasant. However, private healthcare is too expensive, becoming a privilege for people who can afford it.

In an emergency, someone who doesn't have money (and must attend public health care) is more likely to die than someone who does have money and can pay for private health care. Do you find this okay?

  2. I totally agree.
It sounds like a bad joke, but the healthcare service it’s like Spotify; if you have the free version (public system) you have your pass to the content but in a really poor way, but if you pay the premium (private service) you have all the facilities of the system itself. It’s just wrong how something like our healthcare system it’s sold like a product you have to pay for to get an actually good treatment, it’s just sad.
    That's for my part.
    Have a good weekend.

  3. Answering your question, clearly this isn't well. It is inconceivable that people's lives depend on the money and resources they have. In the public system many people die waiting for an operation, or there are even people who have died in waiting rooms without receiving medical attention, which is really unacceptable!

  4. I agree with you, there are too many differences between the public health system and the private one, which is very unfair for low income people, they are the most affected. We have a lot to improve

  5. YES. This is a important topic about healthcare in Chile. They are letting people die because they don´t have the money to pay the services. We have to change that right now.

  6. I totally agree with you. This is not fair. People are dying or could die right now and seems that the autorities don't even care. This can't keep happening.

  7. Definitely a situation like this is not right, it is the most unfair, thin especially for the people who need it the most. That needs to change.

  8. Hello I hope you are well, about your question... no, it is not okay, I believe that health is a right and all people should have access to it. I had an experience in this regard, when I had appendicitis, I went to the hospital and they did not treat me, I was waiting around 7 hours, my shift was getting further and further away, so I had to leave there and go to a clinic. There they treated me faster and I went to surgery, finally the bill was expensive but it was that or keep waiting, it is not fair.

  9. It is unfair that if you do not have the money to pay for the private service, you have to settle for the public, which is much worse.
